Welcome Kidepo Valley National Park that is one the best national parks in Uganda and all over Africa due to a variety of animal species and bird species plus plant species that are in the Park. The Park is found in the northern parts of Uganda.
Kidepo Valley National Park is the second national park in Uganda which protects the highest number of birds and only next to Queen Elizabeth National Park and the Park protects almost 500 birds and 77 mammals and on your Uganda safari you should not miss visiting this park.
There are many activities which are so enjoyful to the tourists of the Park that you will really perform and like including game drives, nature walks, community walks, mountain hiking, bird watching and sand along River Kidepo.
In all the activities practiced in the Park, you will come to notice many things such as during the community walks, you will come to know more about the Karamojong life style, cultures, dressing style, dancing and the tools used. The Karamojong are traditionally cattle raiders and hunters however, through community conservation education, their lifestyle is gradually changing and most of them now know the value of conservation of the park.
The nature walks in the Park can be done around Apoka camp at any time of the day and visitors will be able to view different species of animals like elephants, bulbul, Zebras giraffes, Leopards, Buffaloes and Reed bucks plus many more. At the eastern Kakine circuit, visitors can see wildlife at a close range of up to 50-70 meters.
Due to the large number of birds in the Park, you will have many chances of viewing various species of birds while in the Park. The activity can be either in the morning or afternoon and the Park has got a variety of birds already. The experienced guides will show you around in every activity that you will show up in.
The Morungole ranges rise from the plains a few kilometers north of Apoka. A trip to Kidepo Valley is needed to get a good view of Murongole Mountain which is the highest peak in Kidepo. This peak is not easily seen from most vantage points in the Narus valley and this can be explored on foot with a ranger guide escort thus the Park being suitable for the Mountain hikers.
